Retired war veteran’s journey with PTSD



Over twenty percent of Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans have PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, and retired veteran Shawn Johnson is one of the many who make up that statistic. After serving for five years in the United States military, Johnson came back a changed man, trying to readjust to civilian life while living with PTSD. Needing more help, he and his family turned to Soldier’s Best Friend, an organization that pairs veterans (usually affected by a traumatic brain injury or PTSD) with a service-dog-in-training.
