There are nearly 460,000 veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan war alone who suffer from PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s a condition that leaves many veterans suffering in silence. In this week’s California Spirit Mary Parks introduces us to a man working very hard to make a difference for our veterans by raising awareness and providing service dogs to those who need them. It’s called Patriotic Service Dog Foundation.
At the training ranch, the peaceful setting alone is calming…veterans can stay there in a small guest home while working with their new dogs. No veteran who has been paired with a dog there has even attempted to take their own life. In addition to training the dogs, the organization holds an annual gala fundraiser in September in order to purchase more service animals. It’s on September 28th in Santa Ana.
