Anxiety VS Social Anxiety

Anxiety is also know as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)

Social anxiety is also known as social anxiety anxiety disorder (SAD)

Anxiety and social anxiety share some symptoms however they are two different problems.

Anxiety and social anxiety both have physical and physiological symptoms

Both GAD and SAD are characterized by persistent anxiety that is excessive or disproportionate to an actual threat.

Anxiety and social anxiety may also occur together, having either of these conditions increases the likelihood that a person may experience the following;

Depression or other anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder.

People who suffer from anxiety tend to worry about a range of topics.

They may worry about their health, money and major problems like that.

They may also worry about small minor day to day problems that others would not consider worth worrying about.

Usually people with anxiety worry about most things in their life and over think and analyze most situations.

People with social anxiety tend to worry about meeting new people, being watched or observed.

Performing in front of a crowd, being center of attention, starting conversations with people and dating.

People with social anxiety worry that they will humiliate or embarrass themselves in social situations.

They think they may something stupid in a conversation or just make a complete fool out of themselves.

People who suffer from anxiety and social anxiety tend to avoid situations that make their anxiety worse.

As you can see and hence the names they are both different.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is general anxiety.

Social anxiety disorder is anxiety in and of social situations.

Many people don’t seek help for their anxiety or social anxiety.

This can make their anxiety become worse over time and have a serious affect on their day to day life.
