Authentic self, fakery, superficial beauty, stereotypes, triggered PTSD

My name is Xanthe Wyse. Diagnosed bipolar disorder (type 1), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder. When my mood is elevated, it overrides my social anxiety so I care less about what others think.

Having a vent in this video about the contradictions with the term I see a lot called ‘authentic self’ which seems to be repeated to make money. Seems many who claim they are being their authentic self are relying a lot on fakery such as fake nails, hair, excessive makeup etc. Opposite of authentic.

The stereotype of what a woman is supposed to look like is exaggerated and performative. For women and trans women especially. Keeping cosmetic surgeons & cosmetics companies raking in money. Those who are preaching ‘authentic self’ seem to need a lot of external validation, so not that authentic.

I felt angry in this video about bullying & objectification and I can only access anger when my mood is elevated. Processing some pain from a long time ago while having a vent.

I took the dress off immediately after the video and put my bra and comfy t-shirt and old shorts back on.
