Bipolar disorder – regret and forgiving yourself

My name is Xanthe Wyse & I have been sharing some insights living with bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD, social anxiety disorder.

Today I did some processing of some very uncomfortable emotions linked to memories while listening to music and making temporary art out of soap.

People with bipolar disorder may have behaviours that they would not usually do when their mood is elevated (hypomania or mania). It can be like someone high on drugs with lack of judgement, impulsivity and behaving in regretful ways.

I talk about some of my regrets to do with friendship and how I am learning to forgive myself. I have not forgiven those who sexually abused/assaulted me but I am gradually processing the trauma associated with it.

Other people I have forgiven but I can never forget.

Just trying to bury memories and emotions with trauma doesn’t work.
