We can’t truly be free from the anxiety and stress of life until we can learn how to step away from our thoughts and focus on the beauty and stillness of the moment – that’s what mindfulness can do for us.

Exercise #1 – Creating a Sanctuary of Stillness

Objective: Finding that Quiet Space Within

Sometimes, stillness is challenging to come by. The world is filled with noise, both inside and outside of our brains. The good news is, you can create a sanctuary of stillness whenever you want within your own beautiful mind.

Take a deep cleansing breath and imagine yourself sitting in a beautiful sanctuary. Surround yourself with things that bring you a sense of peace like soft candles, lovely flowers, or a soft pillow.

As you relax, imagine you are surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful white light. Let this peaceful light infuse your mind, body, and soul.

Create the intention of stillness. Slow your breathing down. Breathe deeply and fully, way down into your lower belly. Strive to refill your cup and replenish your energy. Enjoy the sense of peace and stillness you feel in the beautiful peaceful space you can create whenever you harness your power.

Repeat the affirmations: I am calm and still. I can create stillness and peace whenever I want.

Stay here as long as you like and as long as you need to regain that sense of peace, tranquility, and balanced.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder has become a worldwide epidemic. While there may not be a “cure” there are ways to better manage it, and mindfulness is one of those ways. Mindfulness grounds you to the earth and to the present moment allowing you to temporarily step away from the pain and the trauma. The more you connect with this inner world of healing, through a practice like mindfulness the more peace and harmony you will experience.
