According to the EMDR Institute, a type of therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing can help you get back on track after a traumatic event. The theory is that by moving your eyes in different directions while being exposed to negative memories or thoughts related to past trauma, we are able then process these events and find peace with them. Sometimes life feels like it’s out of control when experiencing an extreme emotional reaction following mental health issues such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). With EMDR though – also known as eye movement desensitization reprocessing- therapists may be able to improve our state-of mind so we can gain some order once again.
