My name is Xanthe Wyse. I am a hobby painter who has had 2 solo art as therapy exhibitions. Art helps me with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I am starting an ambitious painting – to try paint my interpretation of a goddess. I have various ideas but my paintings are always improvised. It will be stylised so I don’t get too caught up with ‘correct’ proportions and colours etc.
I usually listen to music to process and express. Music also helps stop me overthinking. I listen to whatever music is on my mind and fits my mood.
I choose a gold layer for underpainting or ‘toning the canvas’. Is messy. When dry will start to suggest a face and go from there. I let each layer dry before starting a new one. I paint with acrylics as they dry fast and can have vibrant colours.
I will continue to improvise this painting in other videos.
