WHITE OAK, Ohio (WKRC) – A fundraiser was held on Saturday for a local non-profit that aims to help veterans cope with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through music.
Guitars for Vets held the fundraiser at Heid’s Lanes in White Oak, hoping to help heal some of the mental wounds of war through music.
In its seven years, around 40 veterans have completed 10 weeks of lessons.
When the vets graduate, they get their own brand new guitar, thanks in part to a group called Lee J’s Thing, which was started in honor of a young musician who took his own life.
Lee J’s Thing has raised more than $20,000 over the years to support Guitars for Vets.
