Hand yoga or Hand mudra; linking breath and movement. This can highly accentuate our awareness of body and breath.
I teach these simple exercises to help people get to sleep at night, to bring focus to breath.
I also use it for mindfully strengthening cortical brain maps and reducing pain related to arthritis in the hands by retraining brain maps and therefore affecting the pain gateway, increasing GABA and the activity in prefrontal cortex which will reduce not only pain, but also depression and anxiety that can actually heighten the physical experience of chronic pain.
🌱🌱🌱 The true yogic breath must be soft and subtle, so this breathing video is a little overacted, but this way the breathing instruction is much clearer.
🌱🌱🌱Low GABA (a neurotransmitter) activity occurs in anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, epilepsy, and chronic pain.
🌱🌱🌱Aadi mudra is not proven to assist with nervous system health but meditation and breath focussed meditation certainly are.🌱🌱🌱
