COVID-19 and Mental Health: our founder Barrister Marie Abanga shares how her PTSD has been triggered and how she is coping and hoping to encourage others too. She has never hidden the fact that she lives with a mental illness, was diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it.
So she was having a hopefully temporary difficulty adjusting and coping with the outbreak (fear and panic) of the CoronaVirus – COVID-19. She says here that she is really hoping that with time and good self-care, things will get better for her as well as for everyone else.
She is sharing her personal experience and some thoughts on the outbreak of this virus to throw some light on what some of people go through or are going through in moments like this.
By some of us, she not only means people with a mental illness but those with fragile mental health due to maybe another chronic or debilitating disease.
There is hope however, and she is hanging in there. She wish us all the best.
