“For God and for country” are the famous words that ring in our minds when we are in the uniform. Our brains are wired for services to higher causes at the cost of our selves. So much so that we are willing to die for our missions.

As veterans, when we get out into the “real world” we tend to neglect our selves, keep pushing forward, pretend everything is okay when its not, tough it out, suck it up and keep going in our careers because we need to be the best we can be in the service of whatever cause we are serving.

What happens when we have unaddressed trauma? We end up creating stress, hardship and mentally toxic habits that cause us suffering because we don’t take care of ourselves.
