Anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, unease, or worry that typically occurs in the absence of an imminent threat.

Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life – for example, you may feel worried and anxious about sitting an exam, or having a medical test or job interview.

Panic and anxiety disorders affect an estimated 2.4 million Americans. Panic attacks are twice as common in women as in men.

Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life.

The five major types of anxiety disorders are:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder. …
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) …
Panic Disorder. …
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) …
Social Phobia (or Social Anxiety Disorder)

These common external factors can cause anxiety:
Stress at work.
Stress from school.
Stress in a personal relationship such as marriage.
Financial stress.
Stress from an emotional trauma such as the death of a loved one.
Stress from a serious medical illness.
Side effect of medication.
Use of an illicit drug, such as cocaine.

Treatment consists of therapy
Treatment includes counselling or medication, including antidepressants.
Avoid alcohol, Reduce caffeine intake, Physical exercise, Stress management, Quitting smoking, Relaxation techniques, and Healthy diet
Cognitive behavioral therapy, Meditation, and Psychotherapy
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI), Anxiolytic, Antidepressant, Sedative, and Nerve pain medication
Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatrist, and Primary Care Provider (PCP)
