Leashes of Valor (LOV) is a nationally recognized 501(c) 3 non-profit founded in April 2017 in Milford, Virginia working to provide every veteran who needs one with a highly-trained service dog to assist them in mitigating the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). LOVs mission is to bring service dogs and veterans together in order to enrich the lives of both.
The team brings over 30 years of military experience and 15 years in the service dog training field. As a veteran-owned and operated organization, Leashes of Valor is changing the industry standard and improving the quality of care and experience of receiving a service dog and transitioning into daily life.
Our motto is One Leash Two Lives [ #1Leash2Lives ] because by bringing human and canine together, a new life has begun for the better. Our clients are the veterans that we serve and the dogs that we rescue, train and love. We value and respect the individual needs of each and strive to help make sure they reach their full potential.
Every time Leashes of Valor initiates a match, both participate in a mandatory two-week integration program in the Sgt. Myers Cottage on our scenic ranch in Virginia. The peaceful cottage features full accommodations and amenities and there is zero cost to the veteran. As subject matter experts, we also speak publicly throughout the year on the value of Service Dogs and the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
