Chad Gravelle, a Constable with the Vernon North-Okanagan detachment in B.C. reached out to share the story of his occupational stress injury and his journey back from PTSD, to help break the stigma and prevent police suicides. Chad finally sought treatment and is now back at work: determined to help others speak up and get the support they need. Chad’s story of struggling with a mental health issue untreated for years is all too common. Most RCMP Members and other police officers will experience similar issues and injuries over the course of their careers as a result of the traumatic situations they face in their work. If you or someone you care about is struggling, please talk to someone you trust, and seek professional help from a healthcare provider – not only on #BellLetsTalk Day, but every day.
