Post-Traumatic Stress might be mild or severe, so it is a general term. When you talk about PTSD or complex PTSD it is usually the succession of traumatic incidents during periods in people’s lives that really makes it a disorder rather than just a Post Traumatic Stress condition.

Why We Need to Address Trauma

Trauma is pervasive in our current society. It is also severely stigmatized and marginalized; as if we don’t want to look at it and be confronted with it. It is the silent epidemic running havoc in our lives and affecting our health on all levels; mentally, emotionally and physically.

We seem to want to recognize trauma, and only to some degree, for those who have gone to war or are in high-risk professions but the bulk of occurring trauma happens much closer to us. What runs rampant and are much more common traumas are:

CHILDHOOD TRAUMA, ABUSE AND NEGLECT (not being wanted, incessant comparing, verbal psychological abuse and bullying, divorcing parents, growing up with alcoholic or depressed parents)
SEXUAL ABUSE (nearly 1 in 5 women in the US)
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE (both in childhood and adulthood)
LOSS AND ABANDONMENT(death of son, daughter, brother, sister, dad or mom)
POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS AFTER SURGERY OR LIFE-THREATENING DISEASE
POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS AFTER ACCIDENTS (especially car-accidents)

Will I ever be free from my Trauma or PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)?

Post-Traumatic Stress doesn’t have to be a life-sentence; it can be resolved.

When suffering the effects of Post-traumatic Stress, this question is most likely to come from a sense of despair. Being in a hyper-arousal and/or static state is a nauseating predicament to be in, which can easily lend itself to the belief that it will never change.

It is important to learn and to see that thoughts of despair and disbelief are part of the emotional state one is in. This understanding can help bring about correct perspective and remove the emphasis on giving too much importance to these thoughts – preventing further sinking into a state of depression.

Trauma and PTSD, in most cases, is not caused by a solitary incident.

Roland Bal started working with people one-on-one when he was 22 and was initially interested in resolving and working with chronic pains. He had private practices in Holland and Luxembourg previously before moving to Spain. Currently he works online providing counseling and online courses with a focus on resolving Trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as well as seeing people in private practice in Barcelona.

His main fields and backgrounds of study are: Cranio-Sacral therapy; Visceral Manipulation, Somatic Emotional Release, Somatic Experiencing, Developmental Trauma and Coaching.

Going through trauma is life changing. It alters your perception of the world and yourself. Post-Traumatic Stress, however, doesn’t have to be a life-sentence; it can be resolved! Educating yourself on your condition is a good start, but if you are struggling in life, it is no substitute for professional help. If you’re ready to take the first step towards healing, reach out, and give yourself a chance to feel better!
