PTSD and the Effect of Trauma: Recovery Through Understanding

On November 15, 2013, Parkland College (Champaign, Illinois) hosted a community event titled, “PTSD and the Effect of Trauma: Recovery Through Understanding.” Former U.S. Army Capt. Luis Carlos Montalván and his service dog, “Tuesday,” were invited to “discuss Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and finding help through the effects of trauma.”

Program sponsors include Parkland’s Office of Disability Services, Club Access Student Organization, The Pavilion, NAMI, Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board/Mental Health Board and Anti-Stigma Alliance, Community Elements, University of Illinois School of Social Work, University of Illinois Chez Family Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education, Community Elements, Biaggi’s, and Panera Bread.
