PTSD. Didn't ask for it. Processing trauma with improvised dance. Post-traumatic stress disorder.

My name is Xanthe Wyse. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (type 1) & post-traumatic stress disorder (mainly shutdowns). Previous video I wrote lyrics to the song, You Oughta Know by Alanis Morisette on an old vinyl record.

Still filled with hyperarousal energy so I danced it off. I can hear the music but you can’t. If I don’t do something with the energy, I become very anxious.

All my trauma processing involves movement, usually in a trance-like state and nearly always to music. The music speaks for me and expresses the emotions I shut down.

I am processing rape and sexual abuse traumas which are the main traumas behind my PTSD.
