PTSD. I remember. Over and over again. Processing by writing on vinyl record.

My name is Xanthe Wyse. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am now seeing a trauma psychologist but most of my trauma processing takes place on my own with music and movement. All my art is made from music and movement. I have been sharing this with my videos.

PTSD is like being stuck on a scratched record (re-experiencing over and over again). Processing is like lifting the needle and moving to a different part of the record.

I transform the PTSD into purpose with my creative expression. I share what I do as it may help someone who has no access to therapy or does not find talk therapy very helpful. Most of my processing is done without speaking. I can have a powerful voice without saying a word.

I am writing lyrics to Sunny (Boney M) which has symbolism for me (from my childhood) and also the song uplifts me. On the other side, I wrote the lyrics Brown Girl in the Ring (more closely associated with trauma for me). Wrote on vinyl record from Op shop with acrylic paint pens.
