Trauma is real to those who experience it…regardless of the face of their trauma.
Parental abuse, physical abuse, bullying, emotional abuse, death, divorce, narcissistic abuse, sexual abuse, accidents, military and first response events…
If you struggle with the very real pain of processing trauma, one of the most damaging things that can happen is for others to invalidate that pain.
Be a person of validation. Encourage professional help and intervention in love. Listen and validate. Do what YOU can.
Life is full of storms and we will either be in one, have been in one, or one is coming. Practice validation.
Anxiety, depression, chemical abuse, grief, alcoholism, triggers, flashbacks, hyper-vigilance and hyper-arousal are difficult enough to navigate WITHOUT validation. Validation can bring healing comfort and an overwhelming sense of understanding and empathy.
PTSD is complex in its treatment. PTSD is difficult to walk through. Take the time to listen to those that have experienced trauma. It will be healing to you as you help to validate and can be healing to those who are able to safely talk about their Trauma & Stressor-related disorder with you.
Ask. Listen. Love.
As always, an uplifting song to listen to. Throw in a set of ear buds. God is for YOU.
