In my own journey with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, authenticity has been freeing, especially with those closest to your fight who are “all in” in your recovery. All of us are broken in some way. Never lose sight of that…we are ALL broken.
So, why is it so hard to be authentic in the midst of pain? Why is PTSD so hard to talk about?
There are many hurdles I have had to overcome to get to the point I am today: lack of validation, professional expectations, damaging people, triggers, awkward questions, ignorant people, disrespectful people, narcissistic/unempathetic people, stigma, stereotypes, fear, anxiety, complexity, lack of self worth, shame, loneliness, “I am the only one struggling…”, social media…the list goes on.
My goal is to talk openly and authentically to encourage others and give them a perspective of hope, courage and a goal of working every day to fight, never, ever quit, and heal.
