Synchronicity painting in progress. Dancing painting to Maniac with bipolar mania processing PTSD.

My name is Xanthe Wyse. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder.

I have been posting some videos of my progress with painting Synchronicity. It is completely improvised & I listen to music that fits my mood. My mood is currently elevated (been getting mania symptoms so have a temporary meds adjustment).

I am listening to Maniac from Flashdance. It’s a high energy song and the lyrics say things like ‘people think she’s crazy’ and ‘she dances like she’s never danced before.’

I use movement with all my paintings, whether rocking or dancing. It helps stop me from freezing with the PTSD and I express something from the song. Painting improvised symbolic abstracts has been the main form of processing trauma and shutdown emotions with PTSD. It might look strange but this is how I do most of my therapeutic and creative process.

In this video, I painted an abstract storm with an eye in the middle. The eye is the calm in the storm. I also signed it, so I think I am nearly done. Will probably tweak the eye and the birds.
