The fight for survival in a war against yourself | Thomas Dunning | TEDxYouth@BrayfordPool

1 in 4 people in the UK will have a mental health
problem at some point in their lives. Using his
own story of mental illness from psychosis to
recovery, Tom wants to break down the stigma of
mental illness; helping others to start their own
conversations about mental health and to know that
it’s okay not to be okay. Thomas is an advocate for supporting mental health across the board, passionately bringing his stories and life experiences to the surface as ammunition to break down mental health stigma. In 2014 he started to experience mental health issues including Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder which drove him to a place where some are not lucky enough to return from. Now in 2018 he runs the website to share with the world his tales of despair, mental illness and recovery to show the world, “its okay to not be okay”. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
