A Cinematic Reflection
In Memory of Jasmine Mossman-Riley who with
her infant son Braxon jumped from this place
on the evening of 25th March 2016 near Maroubra Beach.
She was suffering post traumatic stress disorder
from domestic violence in a past relationship.
Young mother Jasmine Mossman-Riley, 25, who fell to her death with her son from a cliff near a Sydney beach was suffering post traumatic stress disorder from domestic violence in a past relationship.
The bodies of Ms Mossman-Riley and her toddler son Braxon were recovered late on Thursday night below cliffs near Maroubra beach in the city’s eastern suburbs.
Beau Bonning, Ms Mossman-Riley’s cousin, told 7 News that Ms Mossman-Riley had post traumatic stress disorder.
A mother who plunged to her death with her young son from a cliff at Maroubra last night left a message on Facebook saying she had been a victim of domestic violence.
Police said emergency services were called to a cliff face off Marine Parade at Maroubra at about 8.30pm over concerns for the welfare of a mother and her child.
A search in the water was conducted by water police, surf lifesavers and a rescue helicopter, which resulted in the discovery of the bodies of 25-year-old Jasmine Mossman-Riley and her young son Braxon.
Ms Riley took to Facebook before her death saying she had been a victim of domestic violence and could no longer handle the stress.
“This will come as a shock to most people because I’m always happy and smiling,” she wrote.
“It’s funny that you can hide behind a smile.”
Police say at this stage the deaths do not appear to be suspicious, but police will be investigating the woman’s life and circumstances in the lead up to her death.
Officers who were tasked with retrieving the bodies have been offered counselling.
A crime scene has been established and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
