What is Relational Trauma

In this video, Bryan answers some basic questions about relational trauma:
What is relational trauma? How is relational trauma differentiated from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? What are the signs of relational trauma? And, how to sign up for his forthcoming book about relational trauma. Bryan discusses how relational trauma is not just something that happens TO a child. Relational trauma has the power to ALTER the development of a child’s brain, nervous system and body systems such as the immune system. Relational Trauma is an environment of trauma where a child lives under
constant emotional and/or physical abuse and neglect from caregivers or lack thereof.
This creates a split in the child’s brain and nervous system between seeking help from caregivers and having to inhibit this basis relational defense because the caregivers are the source of threat.
