You Oughta Know for Valentine's Day

My name is Xanthe Wyse. Diagnosed bipolar 1 disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My mood is elevated with mixed features in this video.

The song You Oughta Know (Alanis Morisette) fitted my mood so while listening to it, I though of a quick improvised video with simple props. This song captures the anger of being discarded for someone else.

This is both processing the anger of romance turned toxic plus PTSD plus bipolar combined with my sense of humour. I get the words muddled up as I have short-term memory impairments with my disabilities.

I cut apart a scupture Survival Flight which went into a community exhibition. It has a lot of processing with writing song lyrics. There is another video with me processing anger writing the lyrics to this song on the record.

All the props are symbolic which I won’t explain here. Creative expression processes shutdown emotions with PTSD. Intense emotions are very triggering for me so expressing them in creative ways is therapeutic.
